HPSP Strength and Conditioning and Cricket

13.09.18

Semester 1

In semester 1 we guided the students through various activities designed at increasing sport specific fitness and strength. As a group we worked on body weight strengthening eccentric exercises. Eccentric exercises are important for the first stage of any movements. Strengthening this will quicken every athlete’s movements.

During semester 2 we will continue working on concentric movements and strengthening the power phase of our movements which will help increase power for kicking, throwing and jumping. All strength and conditioning programs are based around sports specific movements and programmed using proven exercise principles and sport specific biomechanical analysis.

Cricket

As the cricket season has not started as yet, we have used our time so far to gain fitness and strength through completing various sport specific workouts. As the weather improves and we get outside more for skill sessions, players will be judged from a score of 1- 10. This is based on over 70 cricket performance indicators for batting, bowling & fielding. This will give players a clear pathway to improvement.
